Chatbot for a Prom.ua Store: What Works and How to Set It Up

An honest setup guide for Prom.ua sellers: where the YML export lives in the Prom cabinet, why Telegram is the main channel for a Prom store, and what an AI assistant can answer from your catalog.

Many Ukrainian sellers start on Prom.ua: it gives you a catalog, a storefront and buyers from the marketplace in one place. The questions customers ask are the same as anywhere else. Is it in stock? How much? Will Nova Poshta deliver by Friday? A chatbot for a Prom.ua store can take those questions off your hands, but Prom is a more closed platform than a self-hosted shop, so it is worth knowing exactly what is possible before you start.

This guide is honest about the limits. It covers where the product export lives in the Prom cabinet, which channel makes sense for a Prom store, the five Vendigit setup steps, and what the assistant answers on its own.

What a chatbot for a Prom.ua store can and can't do

First, the boundaries, so nothing surprises you later.

Vendigit does not answer inside the Prom.ua marketplace messenger. Messages buyers send you through Prom's own chat stay in Prom. Vendigit has no Prom integration; it works from your product export and talks to customers in two places: a widget on your own website and Telegram.

Prom's site builder is closed to outside code. We could not find any official Prom documentation that lets sellers paste a third-party script into their company site. Third-party guides, such as SalesDrive's article on chat widgets, say Prom does not allow it and suggest putting links to your messengers on the site instead. Check the current rules with Prom support, but plan on the website widget not being available on a Prom-hosted site.

That leaves Telegram as the main channel for a Prom store. It fits how Ukrainian customers already write to shops. You put your shop's Telegram link wherever customers see it: in your company description, on the contacts page, on order inserts, in your Instagram bio. Telegram is available on the Growth plan and above.

If you also run your own website on another platform and sync it with Prom, set Vendigit up on that website instead. You get both the widget and Telegram. Our guides for WooCommerce and Horoshop cover that.

Why it's still worth it

Telegram is where a lot of pre-sale conversation happens anyway. The customer saw your product on Prom, wants to check a size or a colour, and writes in the messenger. If you reply in the morning, they may already have bought elsewhere.

An assistant that reads your catalog answers those questions at once, at any hour, with prices taken from your export, not typed from memory. When a question needs a person, it tells the customer a manager will reply in the same chat and notifies you.

Picture an evening during a sale: say 15 people write to your Telegram between 21:00 and 08:00, and 10 of them just want to know price, stock or delivery. Those 10 get an answer straight away. The other 5 are waiting for you in the morning with the whole conversation in front of you. (Illustrative numbers, not a measurement.)

Where to find the YML export in the Prom cabinet

Prom can export your catalog as a YML file, the XML format most Ukrainian platforms use. Prom's help centre has an article on exporting products and product groups, and its description of the YML format shows what goes inside. The steps, as described there and in third-party guides such as Shop Express's import guide:

  1. In the Prom cabinet, open Products and services → Items (Товари та послуги → Позиції).
  2. Click Export (Експорт).
  3. Choose the YML format and select which groups and items to include, the description format, extra fields and language.
  4. Click Generate link (Згенерувати посилання). The link appears in the "Link to YML file" block.
  5. If you change the export settings later, click Update link to get a link that reflects them.

Menu names on Prom change from time to time, so if something looks different, follow Prom's own help article.

The domain detail that matters

Vendigit fetches a feed URL only from your shop's own domain or its subdomains. That is part of the security model: you prove you own a domain, and only that domain's data is read.

Look at the link Prom generates. If it starts with your own domain, paste it into Vendigit and it will re-sync every 6 hours. If it points to a Prom address, Vendigit won't accept it as a URL. In that case open the link, save the file, and upload it to Vendigit (up to 20 MB). An uploaded file isn't re-synced automatically, so upload a fresh one when prices or stock change. Weekly is a sensible rhythm for a small catalog; more often in a sale.

For what each tag in the file means, see what a YML product feed is.

The five setup steps

1. Add your shop

Enter the shop's name and its website address. That address has to be a domain you own.

2. Verify your domain

This is the step where Prom stores need a little preparation. Vendigit proves ownership with a DNS TXT record (vendigit-verify=…). You can't add DNS records to a *.prom.ua subdomain, so you need your own domain connected to your Prom site. Prom supports connecting your own domain, and registrars such as ukraine.com.ua even ship a ready-made DNS preset for Prom.

Add the TXT record at your registrar and press Verify. Vendigit checks several times over about a quarter of an hour; DNS can take up to an hour.

Once verified, Vendigit reads your site's delivery, payment and returns pages, so the assistant can answer those questions from your own wording.

3. Connect Telegram

On the Growth plan, open Assistant → Telegram, create the channel and open the generated t.me link once to activate it. Then share that link with customers. You don't create a bot or handle tokens; Vendigit runs the bot and routes your customers' chats to your shop. More in our guide to a Telegram bot for an online store.

4. Add the product feed

Paste the YML link if it's on your domain, or upload the file. Vendigit maps the fields automatically (price, old price, availability, category, vendor, param values) and shows you the mapping to check.

5. Test, then go live

In Assistant → Simulator, ask what your customers ask. The simulator uses the real assistant on your real catalog and doesn't count against your plan. When it looks right, press Go live.

What it answers, and what goes to you

It answers on its own: price and availability from the export; product search by description; cheaper options, alternatives and accessories; comparisons between products already mentioned; which brands and categories you carry; delivery, payment and returns from your site's pages. It writes in Ukrainian, Russian or English, matching the customer.

It hands over when the customer asks for a person, complains, disputes a return or warranty, asks about wholesale or a special price, reports a damaged or wrong parcel, or asks about an existing order. You get an email if you've picked yourself as a handover recipient, and the dialog shows on the dashboard. You can reply, or take the dialog over; the assistant stays quiet until you return it.

It does not take orders, check order status, take payment or ask customers for personal data. Prices on product cards come straight from your export, and it is instructed not to state a price or stock level it didn't find.

Plans for a Prom store

Because Telegram is the main channel here, Growth is the realistic starting point.

Plan Price Dialogs / month Channels
Starter $20 / month 300 Website widget only
Growth $65 / month 2,000 Widget and Telegram
Business $99 / month 4,000 Widget and Telegram

Starter's 14-day free trial lets you set everything up and test the assistant in the simulator first. See the pricing section for details.

FAQ

Will the bot answer messages in the Prom.ua marketplace chat?

No. Vendigit answers on your own website and in Telegram. Messages sent through Prom's messenger stay there.

Can I put the widget on my Prom site?

As far as we could find, Prom doesn't allow third-party scripts on company sites. Check with Prom support. Telegram works regardless.

Do I need my own domain?

Yes. Vendigit verifies ownership with a DNS record, which you can't add to a *.prom.ua address.

How do I keep prices current with an uploaded file?

Export a fresh YML from Prom and upload it again whenever prices or stock change. If the export link is on your own domain, Vendigit re-syncs it every 6 hours on its own.

Does it invent prices if the export is out of date?

Product cards show whatever your last uploaded export says, and the assistant is instructed not to state a price it didn't find. So keep the export fresh.
